The Federal Government has made mandatory Australian Standards referenced in the National Construction Code (NCC) freely accessible to builders, tradies and plumbers across Australia, removing a significant cost barrier and improving access to technical information needed to comply with the NCC.
The ACT government has agreed to implement a 12-month transition period for adoption of the National Construction Code 2025 in the ACT, giving builders flexibility and time to adapt to the new Code.
The ACT government commenced consultation on the introduction of licensing for key construction trades in March 2026. Licensing key occupational trades is an important step toward strengthening quality, accountability and consumer confidence across the building and construction sector.
